Understanding and Healing Trauma through Mindfulness, Embodiment and Connection

IDEAL FOR: All Levels
Join clinical psychologist and trauma-informed mindfulness teacher, Vamsi Koneru and somatics and trauma practitioner, Sandrine Harris, for a weekend retreat to deepen your understanding of trauma. We will engage in experiential practices, sharing and discussion, and engaged learning to enrich the compassion-filled work of healing.
Attendees will be guided through a collaborative process drawing from work including trauma-informed mindfulness meditation, somatics and body-based inquiry, gentle movement, and deep listening. Whether this topic is new to you or you’re an individual enriching your understanding, this workshop offers foundational learning and practice as a groundwork for being with your, and others, lived experience with more compassionate knowledge.
Practices we’ll explore:
- Mindfulness meditation
- Body Scan
- Applications of Somatic Experiencing
- Embodied practices including Somatic movement and Qi-Gong
- Walking meditation (outdoors, weather-permitting)
Tools & Skills:
- The ability to recognize and grow compassion for trauma in ourselves and others.
- The ability to identify the symptoms of trauma and recognize them as adaptations.
- The ability to understand the window of tolerance and be able to track what is happening in our own nervous systems.
- To experience accessible practices that individuals can incorporate into their daily lives to foster health and well-being.
