IDEAL FOR: All levels including beginners

Awareness is a remarkable aspect of the learning process. Without it, we cannot bring unconscious habits of movement and thought into our conscious understanding. Awareness is also the way to presence, where we may fully participate in our present-moment experience.

During this day retreat, we’ll explore awareness as a process of awakening. Through guided movement practices in the Feldenkrais Method® and mindfulness meditation, we will learn how attention that is refocused and refined leads to a deep, internal listening that brings the possibility of true learning.

The Feldenkrais Method® is a movement-based learning method, which uses gentle, slow movement as an inroad to awareness, and the (re)discovery of ways of moving with ease, reducing effort and discomfort. Based in the health of the nervous system, this method is a wonderful way to explore awareness practices, and highly complementary to mindfulness meditation.

All of the movement and meditative work in this retreat experience is accessible, supported by science-based research, and presents tangible tools for self-learning and shifting habits. No experience with any of the practices is necessary, and those with mobility issues, health challenges, or other, are most welcome to join (as approved by your doctor and with notification to the Copper Beech Institute in advance).

Please wear comfortable clothing to move in (including socks), and bring a journal and pen.

Tuition is $125 and includes lunch.
