What You Seek Is Seeking You: Conversation of Soul, Heart and Spirit the Wisdom of Rumi
With Brandon Nappi and Helen BetGivargis
May 11, 2019
Rumi is one of the most beloved and widely read poets in the world today. Born in 1207 in Persia, Rumi was a genius theologian, poet, and scholar whose writing is as fresh today as it was eight centuries ago. A passionate seeker of love, truth and wisdom, Rumi composed an impressive 70,000 verses which have touched the hearts and minds of people from nearly every religious and spiritual tradition.
This retreat will explore the central spiritual themes in Rumi’s poetry, including love, loneliness, letting go, bewilderment, and meeting challenges. We’ll explore mindfulness practices that can help us embody on a daily basis the wisdom that Rumi expressed so powerfully. The day will include storytelling, lecture, meditation, small group conversation, simple whirling practice as a moving meditation along with the sounds of the Native American flute and the opportunity to try some Persian calligraphy. Bring a journal.
