Qualities of the Heart: Five Night Silent Retreat
With Kate Mitcheom
April 28 - May 3, 2019
Co-sponsored by the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center
In this all-inclusive, five-night silent retreat in partnership with the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness, you will have the opportunity to sink into stillness and deepen your mindfulness practice. Guided sitting, lying down and walking meditation will be offered along with bodywork in the form of guided gentle yoga and self-directed meditative ballwork practice. We will focus on the practices of mindfulness, meditation and compassion, and the melding of mind, body and spirit.
The retreat is appropriate as a first retreat and for those with some experience in meditation. No prior yoga experience is necessary and adaptations are available for all levels of fitness. The silence and support by the staff and fellow participants creates a sense of community as we investigate and explore our experience beyond the usual superficial day-to-day life. You will have the unique opportunity to drop into moment-by-moment awareness and peace.
There will be a talk each evening as well as group and individual interviews. On the first night, we will begin with an opening circle of sharing. At the end of the retreat we will have time to share our experience and prepare for departure.
This retreat fulfills the CFM Oasis Institute requirement for a 5-day silent retreat.
