This experiential retreat will explore the life and writings of the monk, Thomas Merton, one of the greatest spiritual masters of the twentieth century whose timeless contemplative insight illumines a path of equanimity and wise action. His autobiography, The Seven Storey Mountain, has sold over one million copies and has been translated into more than fifteen languages. He wrote over sixty other books and hundreds of poems and articles on topics ranging from Buddhism and Christian spirituality to civil rights, nonviolence, and the nuclear arms race. Through candid conversation, poetry, self-inquiry, and mindfulness practice, we’ll explore Merton’s fresh and healing vision for Christianity and inter-religious dialogue. People of any faith and those from no particular religious background are most welcome. Bring a sense of humor, a willingness to share your experience, and a desire to grow in faith, hope, and love.
